Same-Day and Urgent Handyman Calls: Fitting Them In
What Counts as Urgent
A door that won't lock, a leaking supply line, a broken window latch on a ground floor, a rental that has to be ready tomorrow. Urgent jobs are a good source of new customers who become regulars.
Find the Closest Van
Crew GPS on the office map shows where every van is. Pick the van that is closest and has a short job it can push.
Insert, Don't Rebuild
Add the urgent job to that van's day right after its current stop. Text the customers whose times shift. Leave the rest of the board alone.
Charge for It
Same-day service is worth more. Many handymen add a rush fee for same-day calls. Put it in your service list so it's on the estimate and invoice, not argued at the door.
Keep Room
If urgent calls come in often, leave a small gap in one van's afternoon. If nothing urgent comes in, pull a short job forward from the waiting list.
